Green Valley Lake Search & Rescue

A glimpse at efforts to locate 62-year-old Dean Christy who has been missing Since January 4, 2008.


A retirement party was held for Dean Christy at Edison Elementary School in Glendale in 2002. He was joined at the festive occasion by his wife, Joan. Christy became lost when hiking January 4 and Search and Rescue personnel found his remains on April 4 near Green Valley Lake.

Missing Person flyers have been posted by Green Valley Lake merchants in hopes someone has seen missing hiker Dean Christy. Cielo Vargas from Cozy Cabin Rentals placed two of the flyers in her business on Green Valley Lake Road.

Snow Cat 49, assigned to Fawnskin/Big Bear Valley, was involved Wednesday in recovery efforts in a remote area near Butler Peak following the crash of a small airplane that claimed the life of Dean William Carson.

About 3:00 pm Wednesday single person tracks were found near Forest Service Road 2n13 near Green Valley Lake Campground. Search and Rescue Teams were shuttled to the area but were unable to determine the origin of the tracks.
