And Roncopp, I know Vietnam was a major exporter of rice before we set out to destroy the country. I would expect by now they have recoved and now export large quanities of rice which is probably produced much cheaper than in Sacramento.

My point is that free trade should govern what we produce. If they can make it cheaper do to abundant water supplies, we should buy it from them and use our resources to produce other valuable crops that may require that water.

Rice is heavily dependent on massive quanities of water. It seems crazy for us to be growing it at all.

I haven't looked it up, but we may have tariffs on imported rice to protect California growers. If so, we should end them.
