I certainly did not feel attacked. At least not by either Brendamae or BettyW. Not at all...

Discussion. They disagreed. They see something I don't... and maybe from a perspective that I don't share... Not an attack

Except the bizarre reaction and namecalling by IAIA...

So far there have been 30 million doses of swine flu vaccine distributed...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/17/health/17flu.html

“I wish we could be more predictable, but this is how influenza vaccine goes,” Dr. Schuchat said.

“Vaccine production for influenza is pretty complex,” she said in explaining the delay, “and the complex process this year is taking a bit longer than we had hoped. The yield of antigen is lower than they had hoped for.”

I certainly did not feel attacked.

My mistake then...I thought I saw some people giving a pretty good impersonation of it.

When we came home last night I came on here and read all the posts--what a shock. I reread them again this morning and just thought, I'm not resaponding to this crap but now I feel like I need to.
Brendamae, thank-you and that comes from the heart.
IAIA, I know you only post occassionally so am hoping you see this--thank-you.
Sabro, I don't even know what to say. "your sources are significant;y partisan and politically biased" "you are entitled to your opinion but not entitled to make up facts", "Did you merely make it up" "you can get insulted or play hurt but at least own it" "this is worth crying over and getting all panty bunched" "for those who purposefully misunderstand direct posts perhaps needlework or romance novels would be healthier for you"? I know I've forgotten some but you get the idea. All of these statements were made in connection with referring to my posts from yesterday morning. So, I have to admit that yes, I do take these a bit personally. The one about the romance novels I even felt was bordering on an attempt to insult. I really am sorry that my posts bothered you enough that you felt it was necessary to say all those things about anyone or any group of people and that you felt it necessary to continue with it for so many hours. However because I took them a bit personally I think that maybe I should find something else to do with my time (I won't be reading romance novels though). When something is no longer enjoyable then its silly to continue with it.

Betty, I am sorry what I wrote upset you. I believe however that you are chosing to be offended, and I assure you it is not anything that I intended. I do suggest that you re-read what I have written in a different spirit... one not looking for offense or argument.

Taking sentences that you think are hurtful entirely out of context doesn't prove your point. Several of those were phrased as questions. Several were either in response to something specific or were not directed as an attack at you For example, in one, the word "if" was omitted- As in "If" that is true, then your sources may be biased.

"Perhaps if you are hearing such slanted conclusions about the president over and over, it is an indication that your sources are significantly partisan and politically biased. "

I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm not saying you are lying. I'm neither criticizing or disagreeing with you. You were saying that you saw something over and over again. I was surprised because I had never seen it at all. I suggested that perhaps it is your sources. I may be logical that our sources differ. I also question whether these sources are biased, since I am a bit of a news junkie and hit a lot of mainstream sources. Again not a slam on you at all.

The one about the romance novels I even felt was bordering on an attempt to insult.

Point well taken. It wasn't directed to you, but to someone else. It could be taken as an insult.

So is calling a person an asshole, like IAIA did... but I guess that is perfectly okay.

Betty, you remain one of my favorite ROTW people. I enjoy your posts and your perspective. It should hurt me if I ever did anything intentionally or unintentionally to hurt you. For that I say I am sorry with no reservations.

I will sincerely apologize for offenses I have committed. I will apologize when I am shown to be wrong or ignorant, which happens now and then. I will apologize when my intentions are wrong, or if my efforts take me in an uninteded direction. I do sincerely apologize if I have caused you any harm, as you are not deserving, nor is that my intention.

I respond to what people write. If they ask me questions, I usually answer. If I have a question, I ask, and opinion, I opine... If I disagree I don't do it silently. I pop in and out all day... at odd times. For that I feel no need to apologize.

But again, IF you find this type of discussion objectionable, perhaps you should find a different pursuit (With No insults to gardeners or romance novel readers intended). IF a person offends you by merely questioning your sources... by saying they haven't seen the same things you have... by asking you to clarify... Then perhaps the political rooms are not right for you.

Again I implore you to read what I wrote. Not out of context... not what you interpret it to mean...but what I actually wrote. I was not intending to offend anyone. Nor was I attacking or criticizing anyone.

And it is still true that people, all people are entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts. Facts are after all, silly, pesky things... and saying so should offend no one.

And Brendamae, I value your opinion. You have over and over again tried to be the voice of reason. Thank you. I will try to pay better attention to you in the future.

I do have to thank Sonnybob ...for reading what I wrote and not responding to something that was not ever even implied.
