The County tried to pull that on us in Cedar Glen too. We got the tract maps from Public Works. I can't remember exactly who found them for us. We already had most of the information from a realtor. It said right on the tract map that the roads were accepted and were dedicated County roads - although unmaintained. We finally got them to admit that they were in fact County roads and not private roads as they first stated.
Good luck!

Pffthhhh . . . at least they have paved roads in Sugarloaf to argue about. Try living in Erwin Lake.

Paved roads, Cedar, how simply modern. Actually I didn't get what the problem was. Are they trying to put in a Special District?

From what I can gather the problem is upkeep? No one wants to take responsibiity for repair or repaving, particularly after the rainy season we had. In all the time I lived there I never saw anyone work on a road or sweep a road of debris after a flood. Maple is particularly bad. It's been patched and patched but seriously needs to be redone.

My husband's grandfather maintained our road and then my husband took over. He paved it, patched it and we all sweep it ourselves - a little at a time.

Now there's a scary idea. Lets let all those weekenders pave the roads in front of their houses *shudder*. They'd be better off pulling up the paving and going back to dirt roads.

No one ever helps either. Neither weekenders or fulltimers. One of our neighbors has been pretty good lately with paying for patching. However, most of the road was ruined after the fire with all the utility trucks and loggers. One day we caught them dragging logs down the road. Like who cares that we are tearing up your blacktop! Anyway, just wanted to address this subject. I read the article online and made me think what we went through trying to get the County to admit they were actually their roads. Not that they will ever do anything to them but we got tired of them calling the roads PRIVATE!

Coral - first thing we were ever told when we moved to Crestline was that San Bernardino was the largest and most corrupt county in California... and they've proven it every day in every way.
