Hey! If there is a Golden Elk Reunion...I'd better be included! Spent many years going there, and even held Aerobic Exercise classes on the dance floor in the mornings before the bar opened! Very convenient...you could get your work-out and then have a Bloody Mary when the bar opened!
Participants had T-Shirts I made:
"I Take It off! At The Golden Elk"!

Gosh...I loved the Golden Elk. In those years I used to be a flatlander an visit Arrowbear every weekend. Wonderful memories....Can not believe the Elk is sitting in the back yard of the motel, minus its antlers.

Well, I was joking, but maybe we should seriously consider a reunion. What the hell, it's a pretty good reason for a party.

And so many of us have good memories of the place.

Talk about going back to the archives....... My sister used to work there back in the eighties.. When "Wild Honey" used to play there (Formally known as "Home Music")
Michael McCastle used to sit in w/them....
The place used to rock, live music, people beating the crap out of each other and rock and roll.........
wooohoo

Ohhhh.......... WE did BAD things there.........

Great memories, Thanks

"Here's to Martha! She's Got class! Here's to Martha She's a horse's ass!" Martha bought me many Hot-shots in my younger days...Good times. I miss the Gelded Elk. Does anyone else remember the Southern Diplomats?

he he I forgot about that toast, but not the Hot Shots! The Men's softball team, sponsored by The Elk was even named the "Hot Shots"!

Wow...Martha! ...and Bob formed the Running Springs Marching Kazoo Band & Chowder Society! I was a member and we used to practice in the back lot of The Elk.

I noticed last Sunday that someone had smashed in some of the windows. Lumber Baron pizza was great back in 2002-2004. Just wish the parking lot could have been about ten feet deeper off the 18.

Wow, I remember the old Elk....I guess it has gone through many changes since I left the mountian in 1999. I worked there with Dan (the commish) and Terry in the early 90's when it was owned by Joe and ? (I forget her name?). They lived in the large house down the dirt road by Deep Creek Lake with the train car bridge.
I am in Jacksonville, Florida now.

Jacksonville, Florida is not the place to be in July and August, LOL!!! I have an aunt in Fernandina Beach nearby....Great place to fish off the coast, about 15 miles out, though...

Hi jesss, thank you for responding. A realtor had asked for information ages ago. Guess she had a client that was interested in the property.
If you'd like to see if the owners are interested in selling, you can have them contact Amy Steele with Bibby Realty. Thanks!

Photog, I live about 15 or 20 miles south of Fernandina Beach....it's nice there, that's where we go to the beach. It's not been too bad here lately, weather wise....it has been raining every afternoon. Florida is okay, but I actually miss the snow and my mountian critters. (I was born and raised up there) All the critters here tend to be rather dangerous and hide well.
