There is an article in the Alpenhorn 8/20 saying that one person called in that he saw some asbestos pipe and people removing fire debris in uncovered trucks. So this one person has caused the County to add additional requirements to the already burdened property owners. We had hazardous waste teams in after the fire and everything was marked and hauled off. The name of the "concerned resident" was in the paper but I won't print it here.

If there are obvious violations of rules, then they should be turned in but to punish everyone for what MAYBE someone did is just not right.

Coral: It is always illegal to remove, disturb or transport hazardous material without being licensed to do so, following very stringent rules for obvious reasons.

Complaining that one person reported such activity causing others unnecessary expense or inconvenience is a bit petty. Asbestos has no minimum safe exposure level and the idea of someone demoing a house with such materials and then driving down the road exposing everyone to those particles is not a minor matter.

I think you misunderstand, Ron. The houses were long, long ago cleaned up and hauled off. The remains on some parcels are stem walls, parts of foundations, walls and a few fireplaces.
I have never seen anyone haul a load of out without a cover and with proper licenses. If there were a few home owners or someone was hired that did a not follow rules then they should be turned in. But that is not the general rule. We are quite familiar with most of the contractor's who are doing clean up and they have to have a permit, inspection and a final inspection. They are doing a good job for a good price.

Even the fire department hazardous materials team that was out last week to see if there was a problem could not see one and they went all over the area.
