I found an Ancestry show on Direct TV channel 374 (BYU), it is interesting to watch, Cindy Howell (?) from Cindys list is on it, just wanted to share this for those of you who might not know about it, it is on at 6:30 pm.

I am not sure if they offer it on cable, BYU gives a site www.pbs.org to go to for more info, sorry I have not checked yet, but I am on BYU's site now for more info on what they have to offer as well, seems interesting, http://www.lib.byu.edu/fslab/.

Several years go, I went over to the LDS church and got info before I had a good computer and knowledge of how to use it. I think I added some info that isn't quite right. I should go over and see if they are still allowing Presbyterians or others in to their lab to make sure the info is right.

The LDS Church has a tremendous amount of records from sources around the world. Be very careful, however, of the family trees their members have posted online or in their archives. For a long number of years, the church accepted without any verification the family trees their members generated. As a result, those individual trees are wide open to compromise (and in many cases they are shear fiction). Always try to find your own records. Also, just because some family tree book was written 100 years ago does not make it right.

Hi,
This site http://www.byub.org/ancestors/ might give you more info for both programs that are produced by BYU, Ancestors and another program called Questions and Ancestors.
Also, on KSL, Salt Lake's Radio, they have http://www.ksl.com/?sid=640045 this you can listen to live or listen to their podcasts called Relatively Speaking. I enjoy them. Another online genealogy show is Dear Myrtle's Podcast http://podcasts.dearmyrtle.com/
And www.rootstelevision.com

Enjoy!!

Yes, all people are welcome at the family history centers in LDS churches. you can order films there and there are other ways to verify and change info. There is also a new program that just came out called new.familysearch.org. It is a huge global undertaking, so if you need help on that one, call one of the FHC centers.

I just went to the site to register and it says you have to be a member of the church, the site looks really interesting though.

Right now, you do need to be LDS to access the new site. But once it is open to the entire church (they are releasing it by areas to reduce 'shutting down' of the servers etc. After the church is certain that everything is A-Okay, then it will be combined with the current site and will be released as a new site to the entire public for FREE. No timeline is given at this point. But it is a great site. But the church is offering this site for FREE record search http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0
if the link doesn't work, go to www.famiysearch.org and click on the orange box at the top. These records become available as LDS members and NON members work on extraction/indexing this as volunteers. Take a look and see some great stuff.

I forgot a letter in my second link. It should be www.familysearch.org

Jill, I checked out the "pilot" site briefly, but it seems like it is a pretty good place, I will look at it further tonight, thanks!
