My husband is nearby the aftermath of an accident where a dark colored (blue or black, possibly Toyota or Nissan small pickup) 2 door, newer-looking truck hit a little boy. Paramedics and fire are on the scene and the kid is going to the hospital. I'm sure authorities will be looking for info but if anyone sees anything please call the police. They were headed towards VOE according to the kids that were with the boy who got hit.

Just adding to clarify the info my husband gave me was what the kids are saying they saw. I think the family is going around asking people if they saw anything. He just called me to ask to post this.

Just a little more info--it turns out after being checked out by the paramedics the boy did not end up going to the hospital, so thank goodness it sounds like he is ok.

I'm thinking that any witnesses or even maybe the kid and his parents should camp out tonight by the library and wait to see if the guy drives through around the same time. Maybe they'll get lucky and see the truck, ID it and get a plate.
It could be that he was on his way home from work and will be going through around the same time...

...that's a good idea..and if he isn't seen during the next week or so, keep trying, eventually he will return to his regular route.....

I'm sure you know that karma isn't retribution or fate. If you don't know, you need to find out. Karma can be created by words and thoughts, not only by actions.

How did the boy's parent(s) or caretaker describe the incident? What did they see?

My husband said that the family was going around asking people if they saw anything. I THINK there were some kids playing in or near the street, the truck hit one, stopped, LOOKED, and drove off. So the b@#stard knew it happened. That's all the info I have, and that is, what, third hand? It was the kids that saw what happened. That is a great idea for the family to camp out and watch and see if the truck goes by.

Not to make light of the situation. The driver should have stopped. However, I have come up on young children playing or walking in the street. Where are the parents? I have had to get out and tell kids to stay out of the road and still the next day there they are again. I have children and they are not allowed to walk or play near the road unless we are walking together where I can control the situation. Just because we live in the rural area doesnt mean we can allow are young children to run and play in the street. just my two cents.

My kids used to walk on that street to the bus stop. When in Middle School my daughter was walking with three other kids, when a van went over the white line, and hit a boy she was walking with. The kids were old enough to be out on the street, and they were on their way to school, walking as safely as posible on that street. Just because the kid was hit does not mean they weren't playing in a safe area.

I am glad the little boy is ok. It doesn't make any difference if the child as playing ins a afe area, near or on the street the driver should have stopped and rendered help. The acident could have not been your fault but since you left it is now your problem. This is a bad section to walk in as it is a blind curve and no safe area to walk. It is a coward who runs away from a problem. The next accident waiting to happen will be to the kid who skate boards down Hwy 138 in the middle of the stret. To the driver who this could happen to, it won't be the drivers fault, please stop and help this kid he will need lots of help. To the kid who skate boards in this insane manner, you may not be a fortunate as the boy at the library, you could become the next victum of a hit and run. Are you ready to take the consequenses of your actions

My thoughts are the same about this teen skateboarding down 138 he is very careless and putting many people in danger. I see him nearly everyday doing this stupid act. The scary thing is one day a car is going to pass him and hurt others as well or he is going to fall and get run over, maybe even land in someone's windshield.....he needs to be stopped. Also, there are a handful of them doing this on Waters Drive and they take up the entire roadway. 5 kids crossing both lanes and I've had to follow them from the New Wine church I think it is, clear to the laundry mat. This is very rude on their part and they are really not funny as they laugh and turn their heads to look at you and laugh again. I wonder if any of their parents have ever driven by and seen this behavior. Obviously they are from the area.
