Gigi- Terry will love to have your help. I copied your previous post from the original thread

Sent: Thursday, September 24, 2009 06:24 PMI'm available to help, Margie! Ran into Santa Terry today and got my hug!

If he can get donations for it - I can make my KILLER pies and famous meatless turkey (NOT ToFurkey... I don't eat food that jiggles. LOL) See recipe at http://www.nightmarez.com/Turkey.htm YUMMM...

Only problem is... my thermostat is out on my olde Roper stove and I haven't got the funds to repair before Turkeyless day. So this is a way we can serve the meatless and I can get my baking fix in... did I mention I love to cook? LOL

Collection jars have been placed in Crestline stores and shops. Every little bit helps to make this Community meal free to those attending. Everyone is welcome.

With the hustle of Halloween over let's direct our energies to the Free Community Feast at the Sam Moritz hosted by Santa. All information is included in the original post. Please let Santa know what you can help with as soon as possible to try to eliminate those last minute melt downs.

This Feast is FREE to the public...Everyone is welcome.

Another way our small community comes together to help one another.

So many good threads are getting buried - can this be combined with what the Masonic Lodge is doing. I think we have all been donating to the Mason's hoping anyone without a place to land could eat a great, FREE meal. Is there a reason to do two locations? - Just asking
Sent: Tuesday, November 3, 2009 08:48 AM
The two locations are sponsored by two separate communities. I will keep this thread alive just because donations and manpower are needed for both meals. Two locations better serve the mountain communities. Not only do both meals allow you to come in out of the cold and sit down and visit with friends, but also deliver Thanksgiving meals to the homebound.

Your help would be greatly appreciated...in Crestline or Twin Peaks!

Thanks for the explanation

2muttsmom, if I'm not mistaken it used to be only one meal, and somebody skipped town. Then the county wanted to charge for the use of San Moritz Lodge. So the people that took over graciously moved to the Masons to not have to pay for the facility. Now the County is not charging Santa, funny how things turn around.

Hi Paul - with husband being a Mason, that's obviously our choice. I know there will be a nice turnout and lots of kind hands are making both events happen for those that need a nice day. And I agree with your assessment

Are these supposed to be for folks in need,or are we really being encouraged to attend and make a donation?

What are the turnouts like?

Seems to me to donate before the event would be more helpful, correct?

Thanks, more info about it would be appreciated.

Paul...Finally somebody has mentioned the elephant in the room...

Schon, to answer your reasonable question. Yes everyone is invited to come. Those in need who would like a nice meal with people who refrain from judging them, YES they are invited. If you are not in need at this time of your life and wish to have a nice meal in the Thanksgiving spirit, YES you are invited. If you are lonely and wish to have company dine with you in the loneliest time of the year, YES you are invited. If you wish to donate and/or volunteer your time and wish to dine with other's from our community, YES you are invited. This is Santa's FREE Thanksgiving Day Community Feast.

Noone's arms are twisted or demands made on anyone who attends or volunteers. All donations go into this meal. If foods are left over they too are donated.

As to your other questions: In the original post volunteers and donations are being requested prior to the event. Also in the original post is Terry's phone number to provide more info (909) 499-3351.

As in the past Santa's Free Feast has dedicated volunteers and donors. I am a 2 year Newbee and do not know everyones names or types of contributions.

Santa's Feast, as the thread title indicates has endured for at least 9 years with this as the 10th. In his absence the tradition was carried on by those who previously assisted him. Who now sponsor the Feast in Twin Peaks for the past year and many more to come. The Mason's meal provides a great service to our friends further up the mountain. It may only be 4-7 miles further up the mountain but provides a great community service to that area.

I understand that there may be some discontent over who uses the Sam Moritiz lodge. Those are personal or political issues. Please do not taint either of these GREAT community meals in either thread. Please contact Terry (909) 499-3351 or myself, Margie, (909) 589-0087 if you wish to discuss this more.
