I thought this deserved its own thread of thanks.

Even though Dave and I are members, I want to publicly congratulate the yacht club (LGYC) and the Historial Society for an excellent presentation of good, family fun. You guys that worked Thursday and all day Friday are just awesome. I worked at the front gate selling tickets for the children's games and got to see so many wonderful families come in. For all the negative that we read these days - I can tell personally, we have some great moms and dads here with fabulous little kids. They were all polite and anxious to walk in a start with the festivities. The Huff's originally created an event for the locals. The yacht club took it and ran with it and now it is one of the favorite events of the year. The ROTW posters that worked the picnic, or just came out to hang with us - you folks are just fun people - I am proud to be a part of this community of people. WELL DONE TO ALL OF US.

I agree. I sold hamburgers all day at the picnic to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I couldn't believe how many happy families showed up for this event. Good job, everyine involved.

BTW, we raised about $500 that will go to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Thanks to all the people who gave more than the $5 we were charging for a burger, chips, and a drink. Give a buck, save a boob.

It was the best one yet, and I've worked at three of the five. This was the Goldilocks picnic. Not too windy, not too hot--just right, and seemed to be the best turnout ever. Great work to all involved! I enjoyed every minute of it, and it was nice meeting a lot of people that I have interacted with for a long time but never actually met outside of the vritual world.

Well, okay. If you would like to drop off a check at Lake Gregory Storage, Genean would be HAPPY to take one. Thanks.

Is it possible to post an address for those of us (like me) who were out of town this weekend but would still like to contribute? Great to hear it was a great time to be had by all! It's so good to hear positive comments about our community and the people who live here!

Our goal is always to make our picnic revenue neutral and we did this with a little left over to use for next year. We had so many kids that we depleted our surplus of prizes! We gave out an estimated 8,000 prizes and award ribbons so next year this will be a bigger expense. We were even able to give out $200 to the winners of the essay contest. If you will email us your address, we will put you down to contact next year for a donation - jhuff2536@aol.com. Each year we add to the picnic from surplus funds. Besides the essay awards we were able to purchase 2 large canopies for the contests and a food court as well as actually pay our entertainment a minimal "thank you". What a great community we have! Over 75 folks showed up to volunteer and 25 local businesses and families donated at least $50 to make this event possible.
