Vicky W, you & Diamond are the best! and now we have Ontario_Weather Service jumping in with more information. we lost our home in the Old Fire so you must know that when this thread is open, its the first one checked. thank you ALL so much for watching out for us. i can only imagine what a job it is to try to handle all those scanners and transcribe at the same time; you are terrific!!!

Vicky, your CHP description sounds like it's burning through/around the strip mine. There's light vegatation there but it gets thicker along Temescal Canyon Rd, which is pretty much a frontage road for the 15. Thanks for the info!

this is the lastest update on the sierra ic fires, as of 7am this morning
current sitution
1,005 acres, 60% contained
expected containment later this evening 1800 hours
critical rescorces: none
major problems and concerns: erratic shifting winds and high tems 88-90
low rh, extreme fire behavior could cause trouble getting this fire out
rescources threatened: distrubution powerlines, if the winds were to increase, and jump south of the cajalico road it would run towards homes.
fuels involved: 3 foot tall grassesm chamise, annual grasses and spotty manzanita
todays observed fire behavior: erratic winds driving this fire , with the fire laying low over nite,
significate events today: cajalico road closed to la sierra to temescal canyon , outlook
actions planned in the next 12 hours, : tie in approx 1/2 mile of fire line , then mop up and patrol for hot spots
so thats it unless something changes

difficulity of terrain: high
* that makes things tough to reach the terrain to work it at times its better to let the air craft work it instead of the crews,,
