School Board Issues

The current school board voted unamiously to grant an annual guaranteed
raise of three percent to the current superintendent, plus whatever
other emloyees receive (if they receive anything) until 2010.

The superintendents's salary for the 2006-07 school year is 9,000.00
plus a 0.00 car allowance, fully paid benefit and a guaranteed 18
mo. buyout along with benefits at his current salary, if the school board
decides to part ways with him.

The steps referred to for teachers are not automatic. Teachers spend
considerable money and time to advance their education in order to move
on the salary schedule. The cost of education today is not actually
recouped for many years. Then once a teachers reaches 16 years, 21 years
or 31 years of service they are literally making the same salary for
five years. As mentioned earlier, no cost of living raises were shared
with the teachers for four years despite increases by the state of CA.

WAKE UP MOUNTAIN VOTERS! You have a chance to start to change the
current school board with new and fresh talent. You elected the current
school board, which voted unanimously how to spend your hard-earned
dollars, on administration instead of teachers. The teachers work really
hard in this district to educate our children. Our testing scores are
high because of the dedicated teachers.
