Scaryfast,
I am disappointed just as you and everyone else how this turned out. I find no conviction of:
PC 246.3(A) (FELONY) DISCHARGE FIREARM W/GROSS NEGLIGENCE -- DISMISSED
PC 12021(A)(1) (FELONY) FELON/ADDICT/ETC POSSESS FIREARM -- DISMISSED
quite disturbing. Also, what I find disturbing is the message that is sent to these types of individuals. A guy down the street from me has hit with PC12021(A)(1) a while back when involved in a domestic battery with his wife/girlfriend, and same thing happened, hard work by our local law enforcement didn't stick.

The pet rabbit was killed. I believe it was shot 3 times, but the perp said it was in the line of fire. (Right).

This is why. This is exactly the reason I ever mentioned anything about reducing crime up here. This is why I thought we should write to our county representatives. This is why I ever mentioned Pine Ridge Rehab. At least if we squawked about something to our local reps, there would be that little bug in the back of their incapable minds reminding them that they have a job to do. But nobody ever cares about the hill-billies in RS. "Let's send all the regional junkies to Pine Ridge rehab, they don't care up there in RS...In fact the locals in ROTW.net love them. Those folks have the criminals over for dinner every night. Let's just ignore the criminals up there, they fit in quite well with the local born and bred junkies and criminals, let's send more that way. That way maybe they can network just enough to get a good drug ring in the works, and we won't press charges when we catch them in the act either."
Law enforcement on this mountain is a JOKE. We got all the idiot trainees who either don't know, or don't care how to enforce the law. We get the guys who pull you over for not coming to complete stop while drug deals are taking place around the corner. We get the guys who take 45 min's to respond to a crime in progress and by the time they arrive, the damage is done....I've seen it time and time again.
Lastly, I might add that drinking on this mountain is out of flippin* control!! I can't believe the quantity of alcohol I see people consuming, and the recent string of deaths is my evidence. What is your priorities folks? Drink yourselves to death?? I mean get a grip on reality. If you buck up and grow a pair in order to deal with reality, drink without knowing where your keys are!

cammed,
i think we'll disagree again on this one. Law enforcement up here did their jobs: they arrested him (more than once), but the DAs and judges keep letting people like him out, over and over again. I believe this particular perp probably has 3 strikes, but they've gone soft on him. It is the justice system that you should be angry at, not our local guys. The only thing you will hear me complain about up here is the LACK of law enforcement as far as personnel goes. We definitely don't have enough units patroling around, but again, that is not THEIR fault.

I am suprised it got to the D.A coming from our local law enforcment, Twin Peaks sheriff have jaded me.
As far as there not being enough officers up here, it seems to be their story since I have been up here, which is 1989, the population has grown so maybe they should have added more cops up here to handle it, that story is old, and you would actually be suprised about how many other people up here think Twin Peaks is a joke, sad but true, not all cops are bad and it is unfortunate for those that are good to get a bad rap because of the bad ones up here.
As far as getting the trainees and the rejects from other areas, not sure if that is true, but I have heard that for many many years and when you see the things the officers do and don't do, it would make me think it is true.

If you want to complain about staffing numbers at the Twin Peaks Station, call the Board of Supervisors. They are the ones who set the budget for the Sheriff's Department county stations. The contract cities always get the personnel first and the county stations get filled last.
Unfortunately, if the District Attorney's office doesn't feel they have enough evidence to win the criminal case in court, they will not file charges. Do not blame the deputies if the criminals get out of jail. They do the investigations, make the arrests, write the reports then send them to the DA for review. Call DA Mike Ramos and complain, but remember, he is also understaffed and overwhelmed with cases. There is no easy solution.

aw c'mon...there's ALWAYS easy solutions for those of us who drink and take to the computer to type our anonymous knee-jerk opinions....

Cammed and budapest.... Easy solution. If you don't like LAW ENFORCEMENT on our local mountains then get the fuc# off the mountain. The rest of us love and support our local guys. Go move somewhere else, we dont need anymore idiots up here then we already have. I will volunteer to pack your house for you, no charge....

Just to set the record straight, Cammed really is a very nice guy, but he's highly vocal. And after all, each one of us is entitled to an opinion. It's just that sharing one's opinion on this website isn't always the wisest thing to do, unless you're ready to take all the criticism that is soon to follow!! I've learned to think twice before posting anything that could even possibly be deemed controversial!

I have read post's from cammed before and he seems like a decent person, but when someone criticizes our local law enforcement it pisses me off. I see what these guys do everyday, and I also know that their hands are tied alot more then we know. We criticize them all the time, instead of thanking them for keeping us safe, which is what we should be doing.. We may not like how they do it, but at least they do it. Next time you need to call 911 just remember the shit you were talking, and instead of being a jerk, try saying thank-you.

To be fair , Im just plain tired of CA> Traffic, heat , fires, illeagals, taxes, fees, and most of all the overpopulation in this God forsaken state.. Juniper, i know you are in the med. field, so is my wife... But the vast maj. of these jokers coulnt care less about the pub. at large. Ive seen 99% of bad apples, and this is what i go by. again if i can sell this crate, i could use some help. By the way im good friends with 2 ex cops who got out because of all the corrupttion.

i don't think arresting a barricade person who is intent on harming themselves and/or others is a petty stop. This thread is about a bad apple that was not given justice. It had nothing to do with the cops. Justice was not served in this case. He was a repeat offender. The cops arrested him and he is getting off too easy. Start a new thread about your hatred of law enforcement: this is not the thread to do so. The question was if this PARTICULAR case was meted justice. I think not.

Police can only arrest criminals. It's the responsibility of the prosecutors to try them.

Just a thought. Not all people in Running Springs are bad.

Sent: Wednesday, July 9, 2008 04:20 PM
Pinenut, if and when your house sells I would be happy to help you pack. I will post my contact info at that point, as I dont want it on the net for months, especially with this real estate market. Good Luck, and I do mean that in a good way, not sarcastic....

A note to all that misinterpreted my post relating to law enforcement - I was not criticizing the deputies, only pointing out that if people are upset that someone got out of jail or the court outcome wasn't what they wanted, it's not necessarily the Twin Peaks deputies' fault. I firmly support local law enforcement and have lived here almost 30 years. The deputies have constraints on what they can do and the District Attorney makes the call whether to file charges. The judges decide whether to keep someone in jail or lower their bail and let them out on their promise to return to court at a later date. The deputies do an excellent job with the resources they have. If you think their job is so easy, contact one of the Sheriff's stations and request to go on a ride-along. I think you will have an eye opening experience.
