Where is a good place to watch the fireworks over Big Bear Lake? Can you sit on the shore and view them? Thanks in advance!

The first year we parked along North Shore with lots of other cars, the second year went to Stanfield cutoff and sat down by shore, last year (lazy) just parked on Division at end of airport and sat and watched. All great views. So you can probably see them from anywhere on the shore.

Snowmom, anything the middle of the lake and east (toward the desert) is a pretty good spot, on either shore. However...be warned, people start staking out spots to park as early as 4 or 5 o'clock, especially on North Shore. Would advise taking a picnic and finding your spot and just waiting it out until they start, wherever you go.

Oh - and it is usually gridlock, no matter where you are, when the show is over. Either plan to sit in traffic, or stay in your spot for 30-40 minutes before even trying to leave to get home.

However - it is a GREAT show and very pretty with all the boats on the lake; well worth seeing if it is your first time.

I'll be calming a rather scared dog down since we are just feet from where they light them off.

Thank you Maggie and tnkrbll. We will get there early and go to one of the spots you mentioned

We've been pretty lucky so far. Usually leaving house about 8:15-8:30 and getting a spot. Though Maggie's right, traffic is a bear after for a little while. I'll be working swing shift so can't watch them this year....might sneak down Greenway by the airport for dinner break and try to catch some. Not sure if you can see them from that end of the airport though. Can you Maggie?

Tink, never had any luck seeing them from the Greenway area. Once you get east of Division, it's pretty pointless. The best vantage points, by far, are North Shore between Discovery Center and Stanfield, and on the south shore, between Eagle Point and where they set them off at the end of Knickerbocker. Eagle Point gets in the way the further east you go - they get lost behind the trees sometimes.

Awwww, ok I'll skip them this year! We could see them pretty good from Division last year, I was impressed. And not quite the crowd that you have at Stanfield, and much easier for me to zip home. Next year, will try it again.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Just checking in before our internet goes down. Perhaps "it" will take the holiday off and not bother to take us offline today, that would be nice, heh.

Stay safe up there!
