I'm looking for someone, hopefully local, who does quality furniture restoration. I need some mahogany veneer repaired on a nice vintage piece. Not looking to hire a handy man or do it myself, but need someone with experience, a permanent address and a business license.
Anyone know of someone like that here abouts that they'd recommend?

WMH, I'd volunteer (have been restoring/refinishing my own stuff for years and years), but would not attempt a repair like that for someone else. Veneer repair is tricky. The only guy I used to know in BB has moved; however, check with the owner of the 'Antique Mall' on Fox Farm, between the sushi place and Hunter's Nursery. He used to do a lot of refinishing of pieces he put up for sale. Just be very specific about what you want, and make it clear you do not want the whole piece refinished (if you don't). IMO he gets somewhat heavy handed with his final coat (poly or varnish), but other than that, his work seems okay. If not, perhaps he can recommend someone?
