DH witnessed a guy hit a mama bear this morning around hard enough that the car's been disabled. But apparently not hard enough that it seriously injured the mama bear. After DH helped move the car (driver was pretty bewildered, but not injured!!), off to the side of the road, the bears were gone. Seems like the guy hit her with his left front fender, a small bit of blood there.

DD-Thank your DH for stopping. It was my brother that hit the bear He was on his way to work at AMR. He is pretty shaken up and can't believe it happened. He said he didn't see the bear until it was too late. He is hopeful that mama bear is ok. His car, well we will find out. He was in a Honda Fit and the bear was half the size of his car. Again, heart felt thanks to your DH from our family for stopping to make sure my brother was ok.

OM! I really feel for your brother and glad he's ok even if the car isn't. I know how devastated I would be if that had happened to me. I would worry myself sick about the cubs and the mama. OM, most likely will all day even though it didn't happen to me.....

3Kidz, I am sooo glad that your brother's ok!!! DH had mentioned that your brother hadn't even realized what it was he hit. I can imagine how rattling (putting it mildly), that must have been. Hope his car is fixable!

Your DH was the only one that stopped. Again, my brother is VERY thankful. He did not know it was a bear until your DH told him. The bear kinda "T" boned by brother hitting him from the side. Give me a sec and I will post the pic.

Ok, here it is sorry it took so long photobucket was running slow. He said that the picture doesn't do it justice. The good news is it is fixable.

Oh My Goodness ... all I can think of is the poor bear. Glad your hubby wasn't hurt, and glad DD's husband stopped to help.

Hope Mama bear is ok... that would be a miracle.

DD's husband said the bear walked off the roadway. I hope she isn't suffering somewhere My brother is so bummed. He has lived up here is whole life and never even hit a squirrel.

How fast was your brother going. Even if the damage looks bad the bear might survive if the speed was 20 instead of 60, know what I mean?

He said he thought he was somewhere between 35-40 mph. He was tired and it was really early. He said he was in the slow lane cruising, not in a real hurry to get to work (LOL) He has never been a fast driver, being an EMT he has seen way to many bad accidents where people were speeding.

Let's think positive & L\KNPOW that mana bear is alright!!

DD - I wanted to thank DH for stopping to make sure my Son was ok also. No matter the age of a child, 7 or 27 we worry everytime they go up and down the hill. Thank God he wasn't on a motorcycle. Thank you again!!
