Am I the only one slightly miffed about the flagrant misuse of tax dollars?
The gov burns hundreds of gallons of expensive aviation fuel for a useless fly over. When we have raging fires in Big Sur that could use that planes help. Or the fact that they will gladly burn up the fuel for basically nothing but when our mountains are on fire, they refuse to help out unless thousands of acres are burning and hundreds of homes have went poof up in smoke.

I prefer to save my being miffed for the trillions being spent on the Iraq war.

Always expect a lone voice to throw the proverbial “Baby Ruth bar” in the punch bowl. Independence Day is Americas’ day. Our military is required to constantly train and be ever vigilant. What better low level flight training than combining it with patriotic events and inspire us to celebrate this pivotal moment in our history.

If the whole purpose of the military was merely for public patriotic displays we would save billions and do significantly less damage.

On July 4, 1776, the signers of the Declaration of Independence boldly asserted that all are "created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." With these words, our forefathers formed a new nation and put forth a vision of liberty and democracy that would forever alter history. Every Fourth of July, Americans celebrate this pivotal moment in our history, which set into motion the development of a land of freedom and opportunity unequalled in the world.

Oh my gawd, Lethalweapon, get over yourself. Your flagrant disrespect of of this country's desire to celebrate its independence and pride is shameful. True, we have many things to be ashamed of in our history. Please name a place in this universe that has done better, and when you name it, go live there. I was proud to watch that C-17 fly over our beautiful mountain.

this was being talked about over the big bear scanner about 2pm yesterday dont remember the exact time but the pilot did say he was going to do a fly over big bear - and was asking permission to do soo. which he did get. it make have been part of the 4th of july celebration also , kbear had mentioned something about this coming over big bear,, pretty cool and pretty loud,,,

Yes, it flew over Big Bear, where I was able to get a good clean shot at it (of it).

Yep, that's the baby I saw. Only thing is it was really quiet. Like REALLY quiet. Weird how to some it was <B>LOUD</B> and to other's it was a whisper

leathalweapon you're an A$$. The C-17 is actually quite fuel efficient. And besides you probably are on welfare or SSI for drug use or emotional problems and don't pay taxes anyway.
