WRONG, the old landfill is in back of the transfer sta. it filled up around 1982 or so. The transfer sta. was built as a result. There is one other closed landfill some where in the crestline area.why would you want a landfill on the hill any way. I can see why the rates have gone up. With disel fuel at $5.00 a gal., and those semis only avg. 5to6 mpg, thats got to drive up costs. (justlike anything elese these days. I think anyone would be nuts to haul their own trash. I used to do it but i got fed up with the lines. my time is too valuable to waste!!

Way back we had the burning dump up Burnt Mill in Crestline. Would that be considered a land fill?

Vicki3: wrong on all counts. Mountain Disposal was only recently purchased by Burrtec. I have been a paying customer since 1972. The costs were higher then because of the inefficiency of only serving half the residents. It was Mountain Disposals position then that if made manditory it would significantly reduce our per home costs. The first landfill up here was off Old Mill Road between Lake Drive and 138. Just as you crest the hill going north everything on the right side of the road was a landfill. Then there was also one near the Hesperia Airport off Summit Road. I don't know about Heaps Peak but others are posting contrary to your statements.
