Welcome to ROTW
Thank you,

From: Dave@ROTW Sent: Saturday, August 2, 2008 02:50 PM RIMOFTHEWORLD.net has received many complaints in recent months from users and sponsors that the message boards have become an unpleasant experience and overly aggressive.
In an attempt to return some civility to the message boards, we will be making some changes that some users will not like. These changes are necessary. The challenge is for us to do this without being overly intrusive.
We have asked Tim to take on this difficult challenge. We understand that some discussions can, and will, become heated. Discussion and debate are good things. However, when it breaks into personal attacks, the post will be deleted. The user can consider that a warning that we feel that the line of civility has been crossed.
The same goes with language. We have been through this before and most everyone knows what language is acceptable and what is not. We are targeting the foulest of the foul language. If you find the need to put a character in place of the letters, that is one of the targeted words. With over 600,000 words in the English language, it should not be that difficult to find a word to convey your message without resulting to vulgarity.
We will not censor your thoughts or the point that you are trying to make. It is not our goal to stop the discussion; only make it once again a civil place to come and engage others in conversation. The message boards on RIMOFTHEWORLD.net are here for all to enjoy. We really do not want to be in the position of suspending a user. We only ask that everyone be civil.
From: Scott Straley (straley) Sent: Wednesday, August 6, 2008 02:41 PM Messages are deleted when the two criteria are met:
1) A sufficient number of complaints are logged about the message, and
2) The message clearly violates our Terms of Service.
While some messages may be offensive in general, if they don't clearly violate our TOS, they will not be removed. Other, on the other hand, may violate the TOS, but we can only remove messages that are complained about.
RIMOFTHEWORLD.net has about 1,000 messages posted every day. It is impossible for us to police all of the message content. We rely on the users to notify us of violations. And, we keep far more messages than we remove. About 80 messages are complained about every day. But, we only remove about 10 to 14. That's only about 1% of the messages posted.
If you find your messages being removed repeatedly, you might want to review the Terms of Service.
Regards, Scott Straley
