Am looking for a companion to adopt to keep company with our Amigo (who used to be owned by Lupe at VOE). We had to put our beloved Rustea down a couple of months ago and Amigo is lonely. Would love to adopt a retired horse who likes to do "pony trail rides" and nothing stressful, or a pony who needs a good home.

Devore Animal Shelter has two horses listed on their website, a 30 year old gelding and a 16 year old black female. No idea the size, but they don't appear to be ponies from the photos. There are other shelters in the area who sometimes have horses for adoption too.

Hi Cedar... She's at our house now, and I've named her Lore. She's got an injury that I think might not be a huge problem, and she's a sweet girl. She and Amigo are hitting it off. Thank you once again. I am very happy with what I've seen in her personality so far.

Oh how cool! Thank you for taking her in! I hope she helps poor Amigo feel less lonely. Hopefully the injury is fixable? How big is she? I couldn't tell from the photo.

Hi Cedar!!! I haven't been here in awhile. Lore is wonderful!! Dr. Becker says her teeth show her as around 13 yrs old. She has stifle injury in both hind legs, and can improve with physical therapy, such as walking up and down a slope for about 15 min a few times a day. Her hooves were bad and we got the front done, but she will be sedated on Saturday to do the hind hooves. She is a doll. She's a little over 14 hands, and is slightly shorter, though stockier than Amigo. She is actually not black, but very dark reddish brown in the sun. I'm told she's a dark chestnut bay. Amigo has decided he's jealous, but at least he's not bored! It's going to work out very, very well! Thanks for asking. I am so happy!
