Open question for the fantastic volunteers that listen to scanners and post to the alerts on ROTW. Why does nothing relating to Green Valley Lake get noticed? Reports of smoke, unable to locate traffic accidents on the 18, 173, 138 and other incidents from “that side of the mountain” get mentioned, the 38 through Angeles Oaks etc. are covered. But when County Communications Center dispatches GVL (Station 129), it does not appear.

Just curious - ugly red head step child in GVL

I may not have the correct answer here, however, I'll take a stab at it.

Station 129 is not always staffed.

"Station 129 protects the mountain community of Green Valley Lake. This station is staffed with on-call Paid Call Firefighters who live locally. The equipment housed here includes: One ICS Type 2 Engine, one 4-wheel drive ICS Type 3 brush engine, one squad unit with specialized equipment, one Water Tender, and a snow cat vehicle. Most responses for service are inside the Green Valley Lake community. Station 129 will also respond to assist neighboring mountain areas including Running Springs, Arrowbear, and Lake Arrowhead."

I have heard on scanner, "Station 129, cover your engines." Then I may or may not hear the engine dispatched. I do not recall hearing it very often.

That may not answer your question fully - maybe there is someone who has a better answer for us?

FYI - here are a couple incidents that have Station 129 mentioned in them:
