I am a new member of these bulletin boards. I subscribed because I would like to be more in touch with what is happening in my local mountain communities. Understanding that crude language (cussing, overly graphic description, etc.) is more often the norm in modern society than not, nonetheless I am hoping to find that trend reversed on these boards. With that goal in mind, I would like to know if crude language in an entry warrants a "report" in the eyes of this site's administrators. It's complicated, I understand, because of course anyone in the community should be encouraged to post comments in this relatively public space.

But the definition of crude, vulgar and obscene vary from person to person

Culterally objectionable? Which culture? Things here object my culture all the time. Heck there's one whole room that does it for me. Culterally objectionable. I want to see someone define that one.

If it will increase your connection with this community to complain about whatever offends you, go ahead. It's free. You may be able to figure out a way to assimilate some of the culture, but probably not if you consider yourself an outsider or someone's granddaughter over being a member in your own right.

See that little "click through" at the bottom of others messages? It says "complain about this message." You have the discretion to use it at will. If our administrator agrees with your assessment, something will be done about it.
In the first year of this site's existence, it went through alot of growing pains and the TOS were born, and have been modified over the years as the administrator sees fit.
However, threads do go off the guidelines [human nature being what it is], and sometimes they are the most entertaining.
