Paraskevidekatriaphobia Strikes Local Resident

A local unidentified resident claims he is suffering from Paraskevidekatriaphobia and to remedy the malady he walked around his house 13 times and hung his shoes out the window this morning. News of his affliction was just received by this reporter about 13 minutes ago.
The gentleman, who declined to provide his name to RIMOFTHEWORLD.net, has a fear of Friday the 13th. Paraskevidekatriaphobia comes from three Greek words. "Paraskevi" means Friday, "dekatria" means 13 and "phobia" means fear.
"Thank goodness," the man explained, "there is only one Friday the 13th this year." There is always at least one Friday the 13th each year and never more than three (3).
The Running Springs resident was born on Friday the 13th. He again declined to provide the year. But he's not alone in sharing the Friday, June 13 birthday this year. Actor Tim Allen, actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, rapper Raz-B, actor Richard Thomas, former Cuban President Fidel Castro, and actress Ally Sheedy celebrate birthdays today.
In addition to being Friday the 13th, today is Blame Someone Else and Sewing Machine Day.
"It's nothing serious," the mountain resident stated, "but it does cause me some anxiety."
This reporter tried to find out how many Americans still suffer from this condition. The best source was the coiner of the term paraskevidekatriaphobia—to Dr. Donald Dossey, a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of phobias. His estimate is roughly 21 million American and that equates to about eight (8) percent of us.
I just got back from the post office and saw a black cat cross the street in front of me so I drove around the block rather than have to cross over where the cat had made its way to the other side of the street.
The house up the street from me is being remodeled and it's going to be nice when its completed. But after I got out of my car I noticed a painter walk under a ladder and for some reason it made me nervous.
I may not have paraskevidekatriaphobia but I'm not going anywhere near a mirror today. Just in case.
