Monthly Test of Emergency Sirens Conducted
Four Sirens to Sound at Noon
By Michael P. Neufeld
Saturday, July 5, 2008
Big Bear Lake, CA – The monthly full volume test of the four Big Bear Valley Emergency Alert System (EAS) sirens was conducted at 12 noon July 5.
Big Bear Lake Fire Department officials explain the four sirens, which are located throughout the Big Bear Valley, will sound for roughly one minute.
The sirens are located at Big Bear City Fire Department, Big Bear Lake City Hall, Big Bear Lake Fire Department's Moonridge Fire Station and Baldwin Elementary School in Sugarloaf.

Tests of the four EAS sirens are conducetd the first Saturday of each month. Residents should not confuse TODAY'S test with a real emergency notification. During actual emergency situations, the four sirens will cycle for an extended period of time.
In the event of an actual emergency, citizens are urged to tune in to KBHR 93.3 FM. KBHR is designated as the local Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio station. Residents can also tune into local Channel 6 for emergency information.
During the monthly test, emergency personnel request that citizens tune to KBHR or turn on Channel 6 rather than try to contact their stations
