Tow Sweep Nets 34 Vehicles in Fawnskin Area

Problem Oriented Policing Activity Conducted

Fawnskin, CA - The Code Enforcement sweep conducted by the Big Bear Sheriff's Station resulted in an additional 34 vehicles, boats and trailers being towed. All the vehicles were in violation of state vehicle code or county ordinances.

Deputies of the Big Bear Sheriff's Station, along with officials from San Bernardino County Code Enforcement, conducted the Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Sweep yesterday, November 5, in the areas of Fawnskin, along North Shore Drive, and the East end of the Big Bear Valley.

"This figure makes a total of 188 tows for similar sweeps conducted within the valley over the last six months," according to department spokesperson Tiffany Swantek.

The Tow Day was the last planned sweep of this type for the year before the winter season. However, citizens are reminded that violating vehicles may be cited and/or towed at any time and not just during a designated sweep.

"Notice of the sweep," Swantek explained, "was made in advance of the POP project to allow residents time to ensure their vehicles and properties were not in violation. It is noted by the Sheriff's Department that the advance notice to the public resulted in a reduction of tows and citations being issued."
